QGIS Training Overview

Our QGIS courses are designed to introduce techniques to new users of QGIS or concrete foundation GIS knowledge, enabling users to become competent in QGIS software. The training intends to ensure you are familiar with how to create and edit GIS data while equipping users to create professional maps in the discipline in which they work. QGIS is often used as a mainstream GIS platform or can offer complimentary tools to existing location-based business processes.

Our course will equip attendees with QGIS skills which are widely recognised within the industry. The courses are conducted online by our experienced team and our trainers will offer the opportunity to interact and ask questions that are specific to each attendee.

We offer 2 levels of training, ‘QGIS Essentials’ and ‘QGIS Pursuit’. Most attendees will complete both these levels of training, however the Essentials Course can be completed first if you require a gentle introduction to QGIS.

QGIS:

QGIS is a popular Open Source GIS desktop platform that allows users to store, maintain and publish maps in an enterprise environment. The QGIS course is for attendees who wish to learn the software, have had no prior experience with GIS or simply build on prior experience with the software. Our Trainers will provide an interactive training experience and allow participants to discuss and learn new skills that apply to their daily work with GIS. Participants of the QGIS course will complete the training with an intermediate skill level of QGIS.

QGIS Essentials Introduction Course

This 1-day course is designed to introduce first time GIS users or spatial professionals to the QGIS desktop application, providing skills to develop or add value to their existing GIS toolkit. The techniques learnt will allow attendees to enhance their everyday desktop mapping capabilities. As a hands-on course, the attendees can actively participate and experience real-world examples. It is a great opportunity to explore the possibilities that QGIS offers.

QGIS Essentials Training Course Outline:

Module 1: Beginners Guide to QGIS
Module 2: Working with Layers
Module 3: Selection Tools and Geometry Editing
Module 4: Layer Attributes
Module 5: Layer Styling and Labelling
Module 6: Map Production

QGIS Pursuit Advanced Course

This 1-day course is designed to follow up on the Essentials course (Essential’s course is a prerequisite) to enhance knowledge and build on more of the advanced QGIS Features available. As a hands-on course, the attendees can actively participate and experience advanced mapping techniques that will enable users to use QGIS in a professional environment.

Module 1: Advanced editing
Module 2: Advanced Styling and Labelling
Module 3: Working with Databases
Module 4: Geoprocessing and the Processing Toolbox
Module 5: Georeferencing raster’s
Module 6: Web services
Module 7: Plugins
